Scope:
BHP Hay Point Coal Terminal engaged DGH to fabricate a Berth 1 Dolphin Foot Bridge totalling 45m in length.
Solutions:
The existing structure had corroded badly and needed replacing, the foot bridge was a critical component that had to fabricated within very tight tolerances. Upon completion of welding we had to have to structure surveyed, it was within 1mm over 45m.
Once fabrication was completed, the structure’s surface was treated & painted to meet rigorous testing procedures on the surface treatment application. This was due to the environment in which the structure was to be installed; seawater inherently expediates corrosion on ferrous metals.
Once ready for transport, the 45m structure required a police escort wide load transport to site.
