Scope:
The Clare area in Burdekin, 90km south of Townsville, relies on an irrigation channel system fed by a Burdekin River pumping station. Water from here supports local farms through a network of channels.
Solutions:
Sunwater, responsible for waterways, engaged DGH Townsville to replace Clare channel gates. Existing gates were removed, recycled, and new ones fabricated and installed by the Townsville workshop team. Careful coordination was done to minimize disruption to the vital water supply.
Timeframes:
Despite challenges, the DGH team efficiently executed gate replacement without impacting water supply. Collaboration between DGH Townsville and Sunwater ensured successful project completion in July 2023
